"Congratulations, our best wishes" – these are the most frequently heard words addressed to Madagascar's head of state and people on the occasion of yesterday's celebration of the 66th anniversary of Madagascar's return to independence. These messages, sent by presidents and monarchs of friendly countries and partners, marked this important day in Madagascar's history. Among them, US President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of relations between the two countries, stressing economic cooperation and shared perspectives. In his message, he stated that "the United States celebrates the potential of our partnership with Madagascar," particularly through trade, investment, and economic growth. Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his part, extended wishes of success and prosperity to Madagascar. He expressed his willingness to further strengthen relations with the Great Island, evoking "the continuation of mutual Russian-African actions" in view of upcoming international meetings. Chinese President Xi Jinping wished peace and development for the Malagasy people. He recalled the historical ties between the two countries, stating that "China and Madagascar are bound by deep bonds of traditional friendship," and reaffirming the commitment to continue cooperation based on mutual support. The president of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby also extended their best wishes to Madagascar, demonstrating the continuity of relations between African countries. Finally, several foreign sovereigns, including King Charles III of the United Kingdom, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, King Philippe of Belgium, and King Mohammed VI of Morocco, also expressed their wishes for happiness and prosperity for Madagascar.
