A house fell victim to flames on the eve of Independence Day in Ankorondrano Andrefana. The origin of the fire remains undetermined. Upon arrival of firefighters, the blaze dominated the scene.

Fidelicia, a mother and restaurant owner in Ankorondrano Andrefana, was preparing for what she hoped would be a prosperous day. On June 25, the eve of Independence Day, she was counting on customer traffic to make good sales. But while still serving in her small restaurant, an alert came: her house, located in the heart of the neighborhood, was burning.

Without hesitation, she left her customers and rushed to her home. The customers remaining in the restaurant took the initiative to close it and put things away in her absence. Meanwhile, she ran toward her house, heart pounding, hoping to save something. But the flames had already reached the upper floor. Two bedrooms and a gallery were engulfed by fire.

Alerted at 18:58, firefighters arrived at 19:03. They managed to control the blaze at 19:12, before completely extinguishing it at 19:31.

Neighborhood residents, mobilized from the first minutes, had drawn water from the canal to try to contain the fire. A fokontany official who witnessed the scene recounts seeing the blaze from across the street. "The fire was impressive. Residents united to fight it, but almost all belongings were destroyed," he says, still shaken by events.

The owner lists in a broken voice what was lost: one million ariary in cash, clothes, notebooks, a television and a refrigerator. One of her children, who must take the BEPC exam, saw all his notebooks and school materials go up in smoke. He is now forced to study at friends' homes.

Jirama and police came to examine possible causes of the fire. The electrical meter did not explode, ruling out a short circuit. The origin of the fire remains unknown.
