Jirama's General Director, Général Hajatiana Rasolomanana, announced Thursday during a visit to Amoronankona that electricity contracts no longer aligned with current realities could be reviewed. "Contracts that are no longer in line with current realities will be examined, in accordance with the provisions set out," he stated.
Steps are underway with the supervising ministry to identify the contracts in question. The general director also called on private producers to honor their contractual commitments and take responsibility amid the current network difficulties.
This situation occurs during the dry season, which affects hydroelectric production. Reliance on thermal power plants becomes more critical, particularly on Antananarivo's interconnected network.
To support water resources in dams, Jirama is working with the General Directorate of Meteorology on cloud seeding operations. The goal is to boost hydroelectric production and gradually reduce fuel consumption.
However, power cuts are not expected to disappear completely this year. Their reduction must be gradual, according to the general director, as measures implemented by the State, Jirama, and private producers improve production and supply to the national electricity network.
