A child has been rescued by authorities. Among those not spared following the kidnapping of a five-year-old boy with albinism, the national gendarmerie within the Betsiboka police district conducted joint operations with local communities during the search and pursuit of suspected traffickers who abducted Sandratriniaina. The incident occurred Thursday evening in Bemarivo Atsinanana, Maevatanàna Faharoa district, within the Betsiboka region. On Sunday morning around 3 a.m., cries of a child were heard inside a vehicle during a pursuit led by gendarmes and security personnel, under the command of the Betsiboka gendarmerie district. The suspects were attempting to cross National Road 4 near Ambodimangan'i Betsiboka, still within Maevatanàna district, when locals heard the cries and approached the location. However, the six kidnappers fled, abandoning the child with albinism. Authorities continued their investigation. The commander of the Betsiboka gendarmerie district, Atoa Rakoto-Harivelo Deraintsoarimasy, stated they will not tolerate such intolerable acts, emphasizing that criminals have no place in their region. Persons with albinism must be taken under protection to ensure their safety. Atoa Soja Fulgence, head of Madagascar's albinism association, expressed relief at the child's survival. However, 15 cases involving persons with albinism have been recorded in Madagascar this year, with 13 resulting in deaths from trafficking violence. Only two have survived safely. Atoa Soja Fulgence has already begun caring for Sandratriniaina until his mother arrives from Bemarivo Atsinanana.
