Baccalaureate candidates from Bongolava and Antananarivo will appear before the Disciplinary Council (Codis) of the University of Antananarivo. "We are already encouraging the thirty-one people who must appear before the disciplinary council," said Prof. Rivoarison Randrianasolo, president of the University of Antananarivo, during the publication of official baccalaureate results on Saturday. These summonses are linked to infractions observed during the exams. "Mobile phone use, attempted fraud using unauthorized course materials such as notebooks," are the alleged irregularities committed by these candidates during the examination cited by the Baccalaureate Office management. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research took a firm stance on this exam this year. It banned the carrying of mobile phones and other communication devices such as smartwatches within the examination center premises, for both candidates and invigilators, cheating in all its forms, identity fraud of a candidate, and the carrying of notebooks and books in the examination room. Despite this firmness, several examiners claim to have identified papers containing strictly identical answers. "Out of a batch of fifty papers, the vast majority presented exactly similar content," confides one of them. Another examiner acknowledges, however, that these cases remain fewer than in previous years. A ban from taking the baccalaureate exam for one to five years, imprisonment sentences, and immediate exclusion from the examination room are the penalties faced by fraudsters. In Tsiroanomandidy, a fake candidate has already been imprisoned for impersonating a candidate. "Sanctions will depend on the severity of the facts. Last year, they ranged from three years of baccalaureate registration ban to permanent exclusion," continues our source at the Baccalaureate Office in Antananarivo. This Codis is expected towards the end of September. "This summons must serve as a lesson to all in order to clean up the conduct of the baccalaureate and restore the credibility of the exams at the University of Antananarivo," declares the president of the University of Antananarivo.
