On Friday, August 21, a 36-year-old woman was arrested by police in the Aranta district of Mahajanga following reports of child sexual abuse involving thirteen girls aged 4 to 15. According to investigators, she forced the children to perform sexual acts that were filmed, then gave them small sums of money ranging from 3,000 to 10,000 ariary. An 11-year-old victim was reportedly beaten for refusing to participate. The videos were subsequently sold to foreigners, while the children were invited to her home to be subjected to these abuses. Several of them reported physical pain, which alerted their parents. In total, sixteen people have already filed complaints against the suspect, who allegedly attempted to flee before being intercepted by law enforcement. The woman was taken into custody along with her daughter, who is being prosecuted as an accomplice. The victims underwent medical examinations and received appropriate care. Parents are demanding exemplary punishment against the person they hold responsible.
