A man in his thirties was found dead in Ambatobe fokontany, Amboasary Avaratra commune, Anjozorobe district last Thursday. The body had been hastily buried but was discovered and partially consumed by dogs. Children heading out to gather firewood made the gruesome discovery near a location called Ampitantsenegaly, about 200 meters from a small riverbank. Dogs had been seen digging in the area. Upon closer inspection, authorities confirmed the remains were human. The children immediately alerted local officials, and police and medical personnel arrived to investigate. During the examination of the remains, it was determined the man had been dead for approximately two weeks, and evidence suggests he was murdered. Multiple machete wounds were found on his head, believed to be the cause of death. The body was hastily buried by suspected perpetrators, likely without proper depth, making it easy for dogs to unearth and consume parts of it. According to available information, no one in the surrounding area knew the deceased. Local residents had no knowledge of him. The investigation has been taken up by local authorities and the gendarmerie for further inquiry and to identify potential suspects.
