Enhanced sanctions to prevent traffic accidents. Traffic accidents increasingly highlight the responsibilities of each actor in the transport sector. Drivers, vehicle owners and cooperatives are subject to measures aimed at strengthening user safety and limiting reckless behavior on roads.
Drivers may face immediate suspension of their driving license, in accordance with current regulations. It can also be temporarily withdrawn during the investigation conducted by the commission responsible for determining responsibilities. In case of repeat offense, the driver risks a permanent ban from operating in public transport.
Vehicle owners are also subject to these sanctions. After an accident, the operating license for the line concerned may be suspended for a duration varying according to the severity of the consequences. It can range from 15 to 30 days when the accident results in injuries and from 30 to 90 days when it results in loss of life.
Cooperatives have an important role to play in prevention. They must ensure compliance with administrative documents for vehicles and drivers, organize training to strengthen road safety and maintain regular awareness among drivers and staff.
These measures thus concern all actors in the transport chain. The goal is to make road safety a shared responsibility and reduce behaviors likely to cause accidents.
