Barea Stadium in Mahamasina is preparing to host one of the year's most significant official gatherings. To mark the 66th anniversary of Madagascar's independence and the creation of the Armed Forces, nearly 3,800 participants will parade on Thursday before national authorities and foreign delegations in a heavily secured environment. Final preparations were completed during the general rehearsal held the day before the event. Military personnel, gendarmes, police officers, and civilian representatives will participate in the parade, which begins at 10 a.m. In parallel, a substantial contingent of the Defense and Security Forces will be deployed inside the stadium, along major access routes, and at strategic points throughout the capital to ensure the ceremony proceeds smoothly. The security measures in place far exceed those of previous editions. Several heads of state and high-ranking foreign dignitaries are expected in Antananarivo, prompting authorities to significantly strengthen protective measures. Notably, bulletproof glass has been installed in front of the official tribune to secure distinguished guests. Without revealing their identities, Defense Minister Ely Razafitombo confirmed the presence of leaders from partner countries, emphasizing that Madagascar must guarantee their safety during their stay. Preparation of this security operation reportedly required nearly a month of coordination among the various components of the Defense and Security Forces. All measures were taken to protect participants, spectators, and official delegations. The public is therefore urged to comply with instructions that will be enforced throughout the day. Beyond its ceremonial aspect, the parade will also showcase the operational capabilities of the Malagasy Armed Forces. Spectators will discover various equipment used in defense and public order missions, stemming from both international cooperation and state investments to modernize the Defense and Security Forces. The ceremony will also highlight the first female officer cadets, a participation symbolizing the evolution of the military institution. Starting at 8:30 a.m., entertainment will precede the official parade, while stadium gates will open from 5:30 a.m. to welcome the thousands expected for this day marked by national unity and security vigilance.
