Two women were shot Thursday evening in Andavamamba, one of them succumbed to her injuries. Rojoniaina Randrianarison, 32, a machine operator for nearly 20 years in a free trade zone in Tanjombato, was waiting for a bus to return home to Ampasika when she was targeted by two armed individuals. According to witnesses, the two assailants, wearing vests resembling those of law enforcement and each armed with a firearm, attempted to snatch her bag. The young woman resisted and called for help. The criminals then opened fire, hitting her in the abdomen. Transported to HJRA hospital, she did not survive the night. She leaves behind three children now orphaned, the youngest of whom is 6 years old. The other woman, 38, employed at a cash point in the neighborhood, was struck by a bullet in the abdomen as she passed through the area. She was hospitalized and remains under medical supervision. According to the police report, the two men acted with cold blood, imitating the appearance of law enforcement to deceive their target. No objects were ultimately stolen. Gustave Mparany
