Authorities conducted an inspection of the Amoronakona water treatment station construction site. The future water treatment station in Amoronakona is taking shape. The foundation of this new infrastructure is complete, according to a technician. "We came here for the first time at the end of 2025 for the groundbreaking ceremony. We can see real progress on the site today. In six months, the 4-hectare perimeter fence and embankments have been completed, and all preparations are in place. The project is progressing well," said Dr Minosoa Razafindrianiaina, Minister of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, during a visit to inspect the work at Amoronakona yesterday.

The site perimeter is 100% complete, while platform embankment work has reached 85% completion. Site installation is 60% finalized. Design studies are 80% complete, while execution studies have begun and show 25% progress.

Meanwhile, storage infrastructure is advancing on the heights of Ambohibe, where a new 1,500 m³ reservoir will be installed. Soil preparation there is nearly finished: embankments are 100% complete, site installation is 90% done, and concrete foundation pouring has reached 50%. Design and execution studies show 90% and 50% progress respectively.

Finally, the water transport component to Iavoloha, Ambohibe and Analamahitsy is entering its initial phases. This 23-kilometer network is moving into its operational phase with the preparation of execution files, ordering the first batch of pipes and fittings, and compiling technical files needed to obtain right-of-way permits.

The Jirama Water III project, funded by the European Union and the European Investment Bank, represents a solution to Antananarivo's water crisis. "The planned supply of 50,000 m³ will fill a large part of the current deficit," the minister emphasized. This station should be operational by late 2027.
