His father's lifelong wish is now becoming reality through several tribute projects aimed at preserving his musical repertoire. Johanne is preparing to pass on his father Ramy Franck's musical legacy.

Ramy Franck's wish may soon come to fruition. During his lifetime, the musician repeatedly expressed his desire to see his son Johanne take over and continue his musical work. Today, this transmission is being prepared through several tribute projects currently in development within the family and artistic circle. A major figure in Malagasy music, Ramy Franck influenced generations through his style, timeless songs, and commitment to cultural identity.

"It's not easy, because I'm not Ramy Franck, I'm his son," Johanne confides. Aware of the legacy entrusted to him, he is not seeking to replace his father, but to transmit what he left behind. "I will never be Ramy Franck alive and no one can replace him. But I am his son, so what I can do is pass on what he left us and give my best to bring his songs back to life," he affirms.

Following a family meeting, which also included Olombelo Ricky, it was decided that Johanne would take on the role of lead vocalist.

Keeping a Legacy Alive

"After our family meeting, they decided that I would be the one to carry this music," he explains.

The project is gradually taking shape around a six-member band. Johanne will provide lead vocals, accompanied by Deba on guitar, Ny Onja on percussion and backing vocals, Andry on drums and backing vocals, Tsiky on violin, and Ny Aina on percussion and vocals.

The goal is to keep alive the musical legacy transmitted by Ramy Franck. Several tribute projects are being considered, though their preparation still requires time. "There are several tribute projects and we are currently in deep preparation," Johanne notes.

For Johanne, performing his father's songs does not mean reproducing Ramy Franck. Rather, it is about preserving a musical heritage and transmitting it through a new generation. The songs remain at the heart of this endeavor, as a bridge between the departed father and those who continue to carry his work.

"When we sing his songs, it's as if he continues to live through our voices," Johanne emphasizes. With this new formation, the son intends to make his father's compositions resonate once again, while embracing his own artistic identity.
