On Tuesday, August 18, in the late afternoon, a young man suspected of pedophilia narrowly escaped mob justice in the commune of Fiombonana Itaosy, Antananarivo Atsimondrano district. According to witness accounts, two girls aged 10 and 6 were allegedly approached by this first-floor tenant, who was intoxicated and offered them money in exchange for sexual acts. The children told their grandmother they had received 4,000 ariary from him. The discovery of this sum aroused the family's suspicions, prompting them to immediately alert authorities.

The suspect reportedly resisted the crowd. Angered, some residents confronted him before law enforcement officers took him to the station.
