Madagascar and the United States are strengthening their bilateral relations. On August 20, the new U.S. chargé d'affaires, Tom Bevan, paid a courtesy visit to the president of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, in his capacity as interim head of the American diplomatic mission, pending the arrival of a new ambassador.

During this meeting, Tom Bevan reaffirmed the United States' commitment to consolidating relations between the two countries. Discussions notably focused on the positive impacts of American aid to Madagascar, as well as existing areas of cooperation.

Health is among the sectors discussed, through the bilateral partnership already established. The talks also addressed cooperation in combating all forms of transnational crime. The need to strengthen commercial diplomacy between the two countries was also emphasized.

This meeting takes place within the framework of a historic relationship between Madagascar and the United States, marked by nearly 160 years of friendship. According to information provided, this relationship is based on mutual interests and the pursuit of shared prosperity.

Security cooperation thus constitutes one of the pillars of these relations, alongside health, the fight against transnational crime, and commercial diplomacy.
