A young man, approximately 20 years old, was shot during the night of Wednesday, August 19, around 3 a.m., while attempting to break into a house in Ampitatafika. According to the homeowner, this was the second break-in attempt by the same individual. During the first attempt, the young man had forced open a small opening in the house before fleeing after being spotted by residents, who called for help. This time, the situation took a different turn. A law enforcement officer residing in the house was present at the time of the incident. Upon hearing someone attempt to open the small door again, he immediately fired his weapon without first alerting the neighborhood. The bullet struck the young man. Wounded, he began calling for help, crying that he was dying. However, the bullet did not hit a vital area, allowing the young man to remain conscious and seek assistance. Originally from Mandrosonoro, the young man had come to the capital hoping to find better living conditions. Following the incident, he was taken into custody by gendarmes from the Ampitatafika fixed post, who opened an investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the break-in attempt and the shooting. The wounded man was evacuated to a health center for necessary treatment. Following the investigation, he is expected to be brought before the courts.
