End of the line for Radevoly. The manhunt lasted only a few hours. An individual described by the National Police as a notorious criminal, nicknamed "Radevoly," was fatally shot during a police operation conducted on the evening of June 23 in Ilafy. Law enforcement suspects him of involvement in several acts of banditry that have recently caused concern in the peripheral neighborhoods of the capital. It all began on the evening of June 22 in Andafiavaratra, in the rural commune of Ankadikely-Ilafy, Antananarivo Avaradrano district. Around 6:15 p.m., two masked individuals allegedly broke into the home of a merchant specializing in charcoal sales. According to initial information gathered, the attackers demanded money from the property owner. He allegedly handed over the cash he had available. As one of the criminals was already leaving with the loot, estimated at 400,000 ariary, his accomplice reportedly remained inside the house to search the rooms. It was at this moment that the merchant was struck by a shot fired at close range, the projectile wounding him below the eye. The two individuals then fled. Alerted by neighbors, gendarmes quickly arrived at the scene to conduct standard investigations. The victim, assisted by police officers managing traffic near the Polyclinic intersection, was evacuated to a medical center. His condition no longer caused concern after initial treatment. Successful Operation Less than 24 hours later, another robbery was reported in Ambaniatsimo Ilafy. On June 23 around 7 p.m., two men armed with a homemade rifle allegedly attacked a grocery store. Informed of the situation, officers from the Central Police Station of Avaradrano in Sabotsy Namehana immediately launched a pursuit operation. The intervention continued to Antanetibe Ilafy, where an exchange with law enforcement occurred. One of the suspects, identified by the nickname "Radevoly," was fatally struck. His companion managed to escape under cover of darkness and surrounding vegetation. According to information provided by the National Police, the deceased was considered a presumed repeat offender, already cited in several banditry cases. Investigators are now seeking to determine his possible involvement in the attack that occurred the previous day in Andafiavaratra as well as in other similar cases recorded in the area. This succession of events once again highlights the resurgence of attacks targeting businesses and homes in certain localities of Avaradrano. Security forces are actively pursuing their investigations to identify and apprehend any remaining accomplices at large. They also urge the public to report any information that could contribute to their arrest.
