Shooting. A feared figure in Ambatomaro's criminal underworld and his alleged accomplice were killed during a National Police intervention Saturday evening. Wanted for months for assault, theft and rape, the gang leader known as Capsat had escaped a first arrest attempt on January 22. Spotted in a bar, he fled toward Ambatolampikely. Law enforcement then launched a manhunt to find him. On Saturday, the Rapid Intervention Unit intercepted him with his gang as they were preparing a robbery in the area. During their arrest, Capsat and one of his associates attempted to seize the officers' weapons. The agents retaliated. Both suspects succumbed to their injuries. Four other suspects were arrested. Witnesses reported seeing several masked police officers intervening in the Rakmal neighborhood around 8 p.m. The captured criminals were handcuffed as they were taken away. According to police, Capsat was identified as one of the most active gang leaders in the zone. Gustave Mparany
