The Soavinandriana Hospital Center (CENHOSOA) is celebrating its 135th anniversary. The official ceremony was held on August 19, in the presence of several authorities and government members. Founded in 1889 under the reign of Ranavalona III and officially opened on August 13, 1891, the facility is now under the supervision of the Ministry of Armed Forces.
With approximately 500 beds, Cenhosoa serves both civilian and military patients, particularly within specialized departments. Infrastructure development is also among the hospital's priorities. Water supply, which was previously a challenge for patients and staff, has been improved through collaboration with the government. Equipment powered by solar energy is also to be installed to ensure 24-hour lighting.
Other work is planned as part of the 135th anniversary celebration, including the expansion of the functional rehabilitation center, the construction of a reception area for patients' relatives, and a dedicated breastfeeding space. The renovation of the heliport and the construction of a sports facility are also among the projects. Ultimately, Cenhosoa aims to become a reference hospital in the Indian Ocean.
