For more than half of the 233,538 baccalaureate candidates in 2026, the exam outcome is already known following the publication of results by the universities of Itasy, Fianarantsoa, Vakinankaratra, Analanjirofo, SAVA, Antsiranana, and Mahajanga. Baccalaureate in hand! What's next? Obtaining this diploma, which grants access to higher education, marks the beginning of the bachelor's journey in their capacity as a "student," leaving behind their status as a "pupil," which ends with secondary school. Now that the baccalaureate is secured, at least for those already admitted, while some candidates still await result publication, what comes next? Where to enroll and how much will it cost before obtaining the next university diploma? Logically, the next step will be enrollment in entrance competitions and exams, if the chosen higher education path requires it, or submitting an application file if access is through file selection. But first, it's time for many future students to visit the numerous student fairs organized in nearly all regions with universities, both public and private. There, prospective students not yet decided on their institution and field of study can gather the necessary information for their final choice. For the vast majority of these students, cost will weigh heavily on the decision. Between the dream or choice made since childhood and the possibility of achieving it, there is far more than just one step. For students with limited means, pursuing their dream studies will remain just that—a dream. Even more so for studies abroad, where higher education costs are beyond the reach of most budgets measured in ariary. Some go so far as to sell property, land, and houses to finance studies abroad. In this period when crossing our borders represents, for many young people, the only hope of "making it," international studies increasingly attract new bachelors. Unless they have obtained golden scholarships, such as excellence scholarships, the student (and their parents) must then deploy resources commensurate with their ambitions. That is to say: money. Lots of money.
