After several projects between Madagascar and France, Dina Mialinelina returns to the Malagasy stage this Friday at La Teinturerie, before a second performance planned in the country. Dina Mialinelina's voice will resonate once again in Madagascar. This Friday, August 21, the artist will take over La Teinturerie with her quintet for an evening celebrating her musical universe, before reconnecting with the Malagasy public at a second date. Two performances that showcase an artist whose creative work extends far beyond music.

For this first evening, Dina Mialinelina will perform on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Julie Ratefy on keyboards, Tsanta Nasandratra on backing vocals, Kevy Rakotoarivelo on drums, and Harty Andriambelo on bass. The ensemble will present work from her quintet Dina M., built around her compositions and arrangements.

"At La Teinturerie, it will be the quintet. What I do outside is more multidisciplinary, it's not just music," the artist explains. This approach defines her career, at the intersection of music, writing, theatre, and performance.

Born in Madagascar, Dina Mialinelina is a singer, musician, composer, writer, actress, and performer. A globe-trotter, she discovered music at age 17 through musician Mamy Ralaivita. Self-taught, she went on to pursue diverse artistic experiences.

In 2008, she joined Mialy Rajhonson's Ry Mialy company, where she worked for 12 years as an actress and singer, exploring rock, jazz, French variety, and classical music. In 2010, she ventured further into musical performance with blues and jazz. Three years later, she became singer and songwriter for the group Cordes sans cible, alongside guitarist Benjamin Le Faucheur.

Since 2016, she has shared the stage with major names in Malagasy music, including Olombelo Ricky, Bekoto, Rija Randrianivosoa, and Silo Andrian. In 2018, she devoted herself more to her own compositions and writing.

In 2022, her quintet Dina M. took shape and recorded an EP in 2023. Rakemba, for which Dina provided artistic direction and arrangements, was released in June 2024 and became a finalist for the RFI Discoveries Prize 2025.

Since December 2023, the artist has been based in France while continuing to navigate between both countries. Her world jazz duo with Rija Randrianivosoa performs on French stages and at festivals.

But Dina Mialinelina does not limit her expression to music. Since 2024, she has participated in several dance and theatre projects and continues her film work, following her collaboration with director Robin Campillo on L'Île rouge. She is currently writing her first play, In the Belly of a Monster, supported by Francophonies des écritures à la scène.

At the heart of this approach, the Malagasy language holds an essential place. "I continue to write stories in Malagasy, even when I travel around the world," she shares.

La Teinturerie will open this series of reunions with the Malagasy public this Friday, August 21, before the second date announced in Madagascar. Two opportunities to reconnect with an artist who champions free creation, bridging Malagasy heritage and global openness.
