FJKM Reformed Church celebrates 58th anniversary
The FJKM celebrates its 58 years with the launch of pastor recycling programs. A dual event marked by faith and commitment. The former president attended the celebration of the FJKM's 58th anniversary in Ambositra. Two birds with one stone. The official launch of the national pastoral recycling program for the 1,300 pastors of the FJKM Reformed Church (Fiangonan'i Jesoa Kristy eto Madagasikara), in Madagascar and abroad, coincided with the celebration of the Church's 58th anniversary yesterday. This dual event marks the life of the Reformed Church this year. A service was organized in seven national centers hosting the national pastoral recycling to mark this celebration. In Canada, a service was also held at the FJKM Ottawa parish last evening. In his message to the faithful, the FJKM president reminded members of the Church's missions and responsibilities. "Dear members of the Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we extend our congratulations and wish God's peace to all FJKM on the occasion of this celebration. The Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar, which officially took this name upon the merger of three Protestant missions (LMS, FFMA and MPF) on August 18, 1968, celebrates its 58th anniversary today. This is therefore not merely an anniversary celebration, but a time to remember God's guidance, appreciate His grace and reflect on the responsibilities that still await us. Greetings to all those who guided the FJKM through difficult times and times of joy, to those who guide it today and to those who will guide it in the future," declared Reverend Zaka Harimasy Andriamampianina, FJKM president. Birth. In Antananarivo, a service took place at FJKM Ifaliarivo Ambanidia. The ceremony was led by trainee pastor Fidelice Razafimanantsoa. He subsequently delivered a homily inspired by the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 9, verses 26 to 31. "The FJKM, a healthy Church, must pray and fear God, care for one another and help each other. The Church witnesses 58 years of faith, unity and hope, grace and spiritual commitment," emphasized the homilist. The history of the Church's birth was recalled to the assembly during the ceremony. The FJKM was born on August 18, 1968 in Toamasina during its first great synod. It resulted from the unification of three Protestant churches from missionary traditions: the London Missionary Society (LMS), the French Protestant Mission (MPF) and the Friends Foreign Mission Association (FFMA). Currently, the community has six million members. Six presidents have succeeded one another since 1968. The current president, elected in 2025 in Tolagnaro at the 20th national synod, leads the community until 2029. A president's term lasts four years. The FJKM's slogan for the next four years, until 2029, is inspired by the first epistle to the Corinthians 15
