In one and a half months, 107 people reported missing have been found. Among them, ten had staged their own abduction, according to the Tsaralalàna Command Centre. The Tsaralalàna Command Centre remains on alert. At Tsaralalàna, each missing person report continues to mobilize the Command Centre. Ten people recently claimed to have been abducted, before investigations revealed they had actually hidden themselves or voluntarily left their homes. These false abductions are part of 181 disappearances recorded by the Centre between July 1st and August 16th. Of this total, 107 people have been found. Among the reports, 151 were classified as concerning disappearances, 23 as runaways, and seven as abductions. Some abduction cases resulted in deaths, while another remains unsolved after a ransom demand. Investigators emphasize that the lack of follow-up from certain families complicates searches, as they do not always report the return of missing persons or cease communicating with police authorities. The recorded cases take various forms. Children and young people flee following family conflicts or parental separations, sometimes to join a parent without warning. Adults also leave their homes without explanation, leading to reports of concerning disappearances. National statistics show that minors, particularly young girls, were most numerous to disappear in July. In August, adults are more affected. The recent case of a resident of Ambohimanambola involves a voluntary departure. Reported missing on July 28th, this 42-year-old man reappeared the next day. He explained having spent two days at his ex-wife's home to visit his children and having deliberately hidden his presence from his current wife. His former spouse admitted to lying during her initial questioning. The middle-aged man claimed to have become frightened upon learning that law enforcement had launched a search and decided to hide. He was questioned by investigators, who confirmed that no abduction had taken place. The case had been assigned to the Ambohimanambola gendarmerie. The Command Centre continues its investigations into dozens of cases still pending.
