2026 Baccalaureate: 47.92% Pass Rate in Mahajanga
Baccalaureate results continue to be published. The University of Mahajanga has released its list of successful candidates for the 2026 session, ending the suspense that lasted 23 days for the general baccalaureate and 17 days for the technical and vocational baccalaureate. The overall pass rate for Mahajanga province stands at 47.92%, meaning fewer than half of the registered candidates passed the 2026 baccalaureate in this province. According to statistics published by the University of Mahajanga, 12,602 candidates out of 26,300 registered obtained the baccalaureate this year. Breaking down the results, the general baccalaureate achieved a 46.31% pass rate (11,661 successful out of 25,178), while the technical and vocational baccalaureate performed better with 83.87% success (914 successful out of 1,122). The top performer of the 2026 session in Mahajanga province is a Series D candidate from Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc Catholic High School in Mahajanga, who achieved the highest average of 16.94/20. Also noteworthy are two candidates from Mahajanga province: the oldest successful candidate, aged 66, a private candidate at the Mampikony center, and the youngest, aged 16, at the Mandritsara center. Performance has declined compared to previous year. Mahajanga's baccalaureate performance in 2026 has declined both in terms of highest average and overall pass rate. For comparison, Mahajanga's overall pass rate in 2025 was 59.77%. By education sector, the 2025 general baccalaureate in Mahajanga province showed a 58.44% pass rate, while the technical and vocational baccalaureate achieved 85.74%. The best performance in 2025 for the general baccalaureate in Mahajanga was a Series C candidate from Notre-Dame Catholic High School in Mahajanga, while the highest average of 18.65/20 belonged to a technical baccalaureate candidate in accounting and management, also from Saint-Gabriel Technical High School, a Catholic institution.
