Following recent events at the National Assembly, the deputy elected in Fandriana and national president of the "Asa Vita no Ifampitsarana" party shares his views. For Zavamanitra Andriamiharivolamena, "the functions of a deputy are clear: propose and adopt laws in line with the population's interests; monitor Executive actions to prevent legal violations and prevent corruption in public affairs management; speak on behalf of the constituency where he was elected by bringing the problems and aspirations of his voters to the national level."
Mandate
The AVI representative points out that some deputies spend their time following the PRRM everywhere, neglecting their primary mission of fulfilling the mandate entrusted to them by the people, the source of all power, which exercises it through its representatives elected by universal direct suffrage for deputies. "The interests of the people must take priority over private privileges and considerations around the 'seza'," he declares, noting that "this is the reason for 'fanavaozana' which should also touch the internal structure of the National Assembly, otherwise it risks prompting the people to demand its dissolution."
Separation of Powers
The deputy elected in Fandriana cannot rest easy facing the disrespect of democratic norms. "The separation of powers between the Executive and Legislative branches must be clearly established," he emphasizes, adding that "the people are not fooled when there is a distortion between what is said and what is done." For AVI, "a party founded on republican values and 'fanavaozana'," the problem within the lower chamber is clear: "There are practices and a political culture that deserve to be changed with the wind of 'fanavaozana'." Zavamanitra Andriamiharivolamena believes that "it is not the very existence of the National Assembly that is a bad thing. It is very useful if the interests of the people constitute the daily priority." AVI understands the people's anger demanding true "fanavaozana."
