Ambondrona performing on stage at Star Tour Mahajanga. Eighty thousand people in three days: Star Tour confirms its success in Mahajanga. Holidaymakers and residents flocked to the waterfront starting Saturday evening to enjoy an event that continued throughout Sunday's day and night. Concerts, entertainment, games and leisure spaces marked this major holiday gathering, headlined by Aarnah, LJo, Ambondrona and Ckycky.
"80,000 people came this year. We saw an increase compared to last year," notes Iavoko Ramanitrarivo, internal communications and press manager for Star. For the organizer, the goal was notably to offer a family destination where different generations could enjoy activities. Eric from the Fou Hehy group and Barhonne brought their humorous touch, while DJs Natoo, Looping and Jim extended the atmosphere until early morning.
For this edition, Star set up around thirty stands, including a dedicated draft beer area. The Filaos space, located opposite the Central Bank, also received a makeover.
Activities
"As a family destination, we are satisfied because all generations can find something for themselves," explains Iavoko Ramanitrarivo. These facilities allowed for expanded activities beyond concerts and shows.
On stage, Aarnah marked her return to Star Tour after several years away. For her reunion with the Majunga audience, she performed her signature hits, notably "Aya Eh," while incorporating different Madagascar rhythms into her repertoire, including antandroy rhythm. She also revisited "Raivo a," a vakondrazana song from the Highlands.
Highly anticipated, LJo made a striking entrance with dancers before launching into several of his hits, including "Vady," "Za Maka Anao," "Aya," "Ramalala," "Tsy Nofy," "Ngaoma" and "Mamy." The artist offered different arrangements, blending reggae, rap and tsapiky, accompanied by choreography.
For the second evening, Ambondrona took the stage with his complete team, true to his style after twenty-five years of career. The group performed several signature titles, including "Eny Sa Tsia," "Tohizo Ihany" and "Fito Andro."
Arriving late in Mahajanga due to his flight, Ckycky still delivered the show to close the festivities.
With this edition, Star Tour has marked Mahajanga through the scale of its attendance, as well as through varied musical programming and an extension of festivities through environmental awareness action.
