Sudden death. A 68-year-old mother of three died suddenly on Monday, August 17, aboard a public transport vehicle traveling on National Route 7, in the fokontany of Toavala, Andranomanelatra municipality, Antsirabe II district. The passenger, who lived in another region, was returning from a religious pilgrimage with her travel companions when she collapsed in her seat, according to the gendarmerie. According to witnesses, she was reportedly distressed after learning of the death of a fellow believer that same day in Antsirabe, before losing consciousness. The vehicle had to stop on the spot while local authorities intervened. The gendarmerie from the Andranomanelatra outpost, assisted by the mayor and a doctor, took the necessary steps to arrange the repatriation of the body to her home region. "The vehicle was a rental car transporting a group of Lutheran women returning from Toliara on Sunday. You cannot say this woman was very old; she was still robust and accustomed to walking on foot since she lived in a rural area," confided a close relative. Gustave Mparany
