RN2-RN7: Five people killed in traffic accidents
Traffic accidents occurred on national roads over the weekend. Yesterday, two young men died when their motorcycle collided with a car at Antanifotsy on National Road 7 (RN7). Days earlier, a child had also been killed in a similar incident. Additionally, a woman and her child died in a passenger vehicle accident at Maharidaza, Manjakandriana on National Road 2 (RN2). The weekend saw multiple accidents, particularly on RN7 which had recently been rehabilitated. On Saturday, three accidents were recorded. At pk47+900, an area called Kianja Nord in Behenjy, an off-road vehicle heading to Ambatolampy veered off the road due to brake failure from excessive speed, injuring two people. Shortly after, another passenger vehicle collided with a car at Antanifotsy, resulting in dangerous swerving. Five people were seriously injured. On Saturday evening at Antanifotsy, a mini-bus from Antsirabe struck a three-year-old child who crossed suddenly. The child died instantly. Yesterday, in the same area, a motorcycle carrying passengers from Ambohijanaka heading to Antsirabe collided with a car. The motorcycle was destroyed and the injured riders' bodies were dragged along the road. On RN2, a taxibrousse from Ambatondrazaka heading to the capital overturned at Maharidaza on Saturday. According to reports, poor road conditions and excessive speed caused the accident. The vehicle hit a pothole, broke its rim, and the driver lost control, causing it to flip. Many passengers were injured and reportedly an entire family with small children died in the accident. All these incidents highlight the serious danger on these roads, prompting many to avoid traveling on national roads to escape tragedy and accidents. However, some do not return due to recklessness, excessive speed, negligence and other factors. Therefore, caution and vigilance are essential for everyone. Above all, everyone must be mindful because 'life is precious' as the saying goes, and safety is paramount.
