Madagascar is reshaping African financial diplomacy. Long accustomed to being a beneficiary, the island nation is now joining the contributors' table. A commitment of 500,000 dollars has just been pledged for the 17th replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-17), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB). This symbolic gesture, announced for the 2026-2028 period, sees Madagascar injecting its own currency into a global fund of 11 billion dollars intended for the continent's most vulnerable countries. The island nation is thus asserting its economic sovereignty.
