A 58-year-old man and his only son, aged 24, died in a road accident yesterday in Antanifotsy. They were traveling from Ambohimiadana Andramasina to Antsirabe when their red Haojue motorcycle collided head-on with a cement truck approximately two kilometers north of Ilempona. Both victims died at the scene. Their bodies were released to the family after standard procedures.

The truck, driven by a 31-year-old man from Ambolomadinika Toamasina, was traveling north-south in its designated lane, separated by a solid line. According to initial findings, the motorcycle driver lost control before striking the truck frontally.

The truck driver has been detained at Antanifotsy police station, and his vehicle impounded for investigation purposes.

This stretch of road was previously marked with warning signs and equipped with speed bumps, but these were removed during road repairs. Although the road surface is now in good condition, no road markings or warning signs have been reinstalled, raising concerns about user safety.
