A shocking case has emerged involving a man and a traditional healer. A tragic incident occurred in Ambatomitety, Antanetibe district, Faratsiho, resulting in the death of a child just one month old. The child and mother disappeared on the night of Friday, July 31, 2026, triggering searches by community members and local authorities. On Monday, August 2, 2026, approximately 30 meters from their home, the grandmother, mother, and child were found. The infant was already deceased, reportedly found in the mother's arms. National police and gendarmes from Faratsiho launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of death. During questioning, investigators discovered the mother had visited a traditional healer with her child. According to reports, this visit led to the child's death, described as a ritual killing. As the investigation progressed, the mother confessed to killing her infant. A traditional healer and a man, a relative of the mother who allegedly connected her with the healer, were also implicated. Three individuals were brought before the court on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. These included the child's mother, the traditional healer, and the man accused of facilitating the connection. Following their court appearance, all three were remanded in custody. The case remains under judicial review, with authorities' investigation providing clarity on the child's death.
