Lejim 415 Appointed Head of OMDA Board of Directors
An ethnomusicology doctorate holder now heads the board of directors of the Malagasy Office of Authors' Rights (OMDA), in the person of Jimmy Hilarion Rakotonavory, since August 6. This date marked the first meeting of the new board. He succeeds comedian Francis Turbo, Francis Razafiarison in civilian life. The board of directors is composed of several ministerial entities and cultural sector actors. Thus, the new board president represents the Prime Minister's Office. Other representatives come from the Ministries of Justice, Interior and Decentralization, Communication and Culture, and so on. A former singer of "salegy Tsimihety," Lejim 415, his stage name, has somewhat abandoned the microphone to dedicate himself to his university studies. His thesis, defended in 2023 at the University of Tuléar, focuses on the "balimanjôfo," a festive gathering specific to the Tsimihety people. Like the "tsaboraha" in the East and other joyful moments, which are often celebrated during the opening of vanilla campaigns or to celebrate the new year.
