The albino child rescued from a trafficking case in Vangaindrano is now safe, though just days ago, he and his family were still victims of threats of retaliation from people likely involved in the case but not yet apprehended. The child and his mother have already arrived in Antananarivo and will be fully supported by the presidential couple. This is a happy ending to what appears to have been a dark series targeting albino children. As a reminder, another case of kidnapping and murder of an albino child was also uncovered near Betroka, where around fifteen people were arrested. The alarming figures and accounts of numerous cases of kidnapping and murders of albino children and teenagers have caused great public concern. News of these cases, reaching beyond our borders, deeply worry human rights organizations and child protection agencies. The happy outcome of the Vangaindrano case brings relief to the public, while the arrest of suspected perpetrators of these condemnable acts in both cases—in Betroka and Vangaindrano—brings comfort after months of collective anguish. However, the chapter is not yet closed. Investigations into several other cases of albino children kidnapped and killed, or who remain missing, have not yet concluded, or their findings have not been made public. For the public, it is difficult to believe that the networks recently dismantled were the only ones operating in all the albino child trafficking cases in recent years. In any case, while awaiting full clarity on these numerous cases of kidnapping and murder of albino children, the public has only one wish: that no more albino children be kidnapped or murdered, and that the dark series finally end.
