The official launch of the IFPB campaign for the Urban Commune of Antananarivo took place yesterday at Analakely. Tax month has begun within the Urban Commune of Antananarivo. Officially launched yesterday, this major campaign will run until September 12 and concerns the Property Tax on Built Properties (IFPB) for fiscal years 2023 and 2024. Backed by unprecedented tax relief measures, this edition aims for a win-win partnership with citizens to drive the capital's development. Listening to complaints raised during the previous campaign, the CUA has taken decisive action. The most notable change lies in the modification of the calculation base: the rental value of the lowest bracket has been lowered to 944 ariary, compared to 2,444 ariary previously, emphasized Benoit Lucien Razamandiby, director of Financial Management. This is coupled with a flat rate of 5% and, most importantly, zero surcharges or penalties: only the principal amount is due, offering significant relief for all households.

Fundamental Responsibility

Far from being mere administrative formality, paying one's IFPB is the most direct and noble way to participate in transforming our living environment. As CUA Secretary General Bao Razafimahefa reminded, taxes remain both a duty and fundamental responsibility. "It is the true fuel that enables the municipality to guarantee development actions, finance infrastructure works, and ensure the essential sanitation of the city to build a clean, orderly Antananarivo worthy of its inhabitants," she emphasized. Indeed, each taxpayer who pays their contribution directly invests in their own quality of life, in rehabilitating roads in their neighborhood, and in the general cleanliness of the City of a Thousand.

Six Districts

To simplify the process, payment is exclusively available Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the counters of the capital's six districts. Users can visit the first district at Analakely, gates 114 and 115; the second district at Ambanidia, gate 204; the third district at Antaninandro, gate 4; the fourth district at Anosy, gate 20; the fifth district at Ambatomainty, gate 2; and the sixth district at Ambohimanarina, gate 10. Tax notices are currently being distributed across 192 fokontany by collectors mandated by the CUA.

General Mobilization

The Municipal Police, through its commander Panoel Tsiky Rakotondrainivonona, firmly reminds that no collection should occur outside official offices. Distributing agents have official identification badges to invite the public to receive them with confidence and direct them to secure counters. Indeed, the administration recalls that during the 2021-2022 campaign, out of approximately 200,000 registered homes, barely 33,000 paid their dues. With a collection rate of only 15%, the CUA is counting on tremendous public mobilization to reverse the trend. In any case, thanks to these substantial reductions, now is the ideal time to regularize one's situation, prepare for 2025 peacefully, and actively participate in Antananarivo's prosperity.
