Work on the future Mangoky bridge is progressing. The Ministry of Public Works reports that construction of the 880-meter bridge on RN9, connecting the Atsimo Andrefana region to Menabe, is 47% complete. Technical details reveal that multicellular culverts are 100% constructed, both abutments are finished, 128 of the required piles are installed, and six of the fifteen necessary piers are already in place. Nine of seventeen foundation slabs have been completed. Concurrently, construction of the 7-kilometer connecting road is underway, with foundation and base layers currently being laid. The Fenoarivo bridge project stands at 5% completion. This major infrastructure, considered one of the country's most important, is being executed by China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) using advanced technologies. Financed by Arab funds through the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (Badea), the FSD, and the Malagasy state, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Until the bridge opens, river crossings continue by traditional rope-pulled ferry during the rainy season.
