Colonel Michaël Randrianirina has embarked on a new phase of his international agenda. The president of Refondation left Madagascar yesterday morning for Chad, where he is participating on Tuesday, August 11, in ceremonies marking the country's 66th independence anniversary. This trip comes at the invitation of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. Before departing from Ivato International Airport, the Malagasy head of state presented this visit as an opportunity to intensify Madagascar's relations with its partners. He is traveling with several political leaders and government members. The commemoration organized in N'Djamena will also serve as a framework for sustained diplomatic activity. Several foreign leaders are expected in the Chadian capital, including General Horta Inta-A Na Man, president of Guinea-Bissau's transition. Michaël Randrianirina's agenda notably includes a meeting with Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. This encounter should allow the two leaders to identify new avenues for collaboration between Antananarivo and N'Djamena. Discussions could concern political relations as well as economic and institutional perspectives. A meeting bringing together the three heads of state present is also announced. This appointment will give the Malagasy president another opportunity to develop his contacts on the continent and address matters of common interest with his counterparts. Beyond its ceremonial dimension, the Chadian stay takes on a diplomatic orientation.
