Madagascar National Parks (MNP) inaugurated its Control Room at its Ambatobe headquarters on Monday, August 10, in the presence of technical and financial partners and Kiady Rakotondravoninala, director general of environmental governance at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD). This ceremony marked the operational deployment of the national SYNERGI-MNP system, accompanied by the delivery of strategic equipment to field agents. "SYNERGI-MNP is becoming a pillar of the national protected area surveillance system. It centralizes information, streamlines communication and strengthens agent safety," explains Ollier Andrianambinina, head of MNP's Information Systems and Innovation department. The Control Room is now the operational hub: alert monitoring, communication supervision and direct support to local teams. Satellite technology complements this system. Satellite data enables detection of fires and changes in forest cover, even in remote areas. Combined with the expertise of patrol teams, they guide interventions and accelerate responses to threats. To strengthen capacity, MNP distributed 100 ZOLEO devices, 66 smartphones with powerbanks and two motorcycles for Makay National Park. These provisions are accompanied by intensive training on safety, alert management and SMART data exploitation. This modernization is the result of solid partnerships with KfW, BMZ, Conservation Allies and FAPBM.
