Polio eradication is among the areas receiving US support for Madagascar. Madagascar and the United States are strengthening their strategic partnership in Washington. Recently, a high-level Malagasy delegation met with American officials at the heart of the US federal capital, sealing a shared commitment to intensify cooperation in public health. The national delegation was led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Ephraim Randrianambinina, alongside Madagascar's ambassador to the United States. Bilateral discussions focused on the major health challenges facing the Great Island. Priorities addressed include combating HIV/AIDS, preserving maternal and child health, targeted malaria control, definitive polio eradication, and modernizing surveillance and epidemic response systems. Objectives This high-level meeting is already bearing fruit for Madagascar's health system. American authorities announced additional funding to strengthen the national HIV/AIDS control program, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health. In keeping with these commitments, an upcoming visit by an American delegation to Madagascar has been formalized. This expert mission will aim to provide direct on-the-ground support to improve the quality of medical services offered to the population, the Ministry of Health reports.
