Météo Madagascar has issued an alert regarding a heavy swell episode expected across several maritime coasts of the country. Significant marine agitation is forecast in the coming days along the western and southern coasts of Madagascar. According to predictions, waves reaching between 2.5 and 3.5 meters are expected, driven by swells from the south and southwest. The affected zones extend from the center-west coast to the southeast, from Maintirano to Farafangana. The phenomenon will begin Wednesday, August 12 in the morning, between Morombe and Taolagnaro, before gradually spreading to other coastal areas the following day. This situation could cause navigation difficulties and even shipwreck risks for vessels, particularly the more vulnerable ones. Beyond the maritime sector, daily economic activities related to the sea could also be disrupted. Facing these risks, meteorological authorities recommend the population, especially fishermen and maritime transporters, to strictly follow safety guidelines issued locally. Vigilance remains essential throughout the affected period.
