The 'Hosotra' festival has spanned several administrations, dating back to the city's first mayor between 1980 and 1990. "It was thanks to him that the name 'hosotra' was found," reveals Petit Maître, an artist name, member of the organizing team. This year, "Hosotra 2026" runs from August 8 to 29 on the hillsides of the capital, at the Ortana garden in Antaninarenina. "All activities are free," emphasizes Nate Nambinintsoa from the "Maison Sociale des Arts" in Ambatovinaky. Under the cool shade of jacarandas, among tree-lined gardens, around forty artists and dozens of paintings await the scrutiny of Tananarivo residents. A special mention for young Ramy Rentia, who is establishing herself in digital art. Her works address delicate subjects such as vertigo, introspection, and femininity. More or less established artists like Kami and others are also featured. An opportunity to stroll during the day as well. The opening reception will take place Friday afternoon.
