Following reports of a serious incident in Mahajanga II district on Friday, August 7, 2026, here are the details: Four cattle rustlers were spotted, but a couple from Amboromalandy, Marovoay district, who had purchased cattle in Ampobolava village, Ambanivohitra Mahajamba Usine commune, Mahajanga II district, were attacked. The couple was stabbed by the criminals and robbed of approximately 20 million ariary intended for cattle purchase. Local security forces and villagers from Fenoarivo Besakoa intervened after receiving information. A confrontation ensued with the criminals, resulting in injuries to some villagers. One of the thieves carrying the money managed to escape. However, the Gendarmerie continued pursuit and investigation.
