On August 3 and 4, the commune of Analavory in Miarinarivo district (Itasy region) celebrated the 2026 Ecology Festival. Co-organized by the Association of Women Farmers (FARM), the RJDD (Network of Youth for Sustainable Development), and CRAD-OI, this annual gathering once again mobilized citizens around environmental urgencies and sustainable development. Between a colorful carnival and engaged artistic performances, this edition established itself as a strong advocacy platform. Although Madagascar contributes insignificantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, the island is suffering the full brunt of climate disruption. Beyond speeches, the festival honored rural women, true pillars of food sovereignty. Farmers from the FARM network (Women in Rural Action of Madagascar) participated in practical training focused on green energy, including green charcoal production, leadership, and organic agriculture without chemical fertilizers. "This event was specially designed to support rural women and continue raising awareness among all for the preservation of our environment," emphasized Hantanirina Lilia Ravoniarisoa, national president of the FARM association. In parallel, around thirty exhibition stands showcased local products and peasant know-how. Following this successful stage in Itasy, attention now turns north: the Diana region has been officially designated to host the 2027 edition.
