Traditional practices like circumcision hold significant cultural importance among Malagasy people, varying by region. This prompted the Hanjary Raha Ty association in Betsiboka to organize socio-cultural awareness activities for residents. Among these initiatives was a major free circumcision campaign conducted with trained medical professionals. 170 individuals underwent the free mass circumcision procedure at the community center in Mangabe, within Maevatanàna district, Betsiboka region on Friday, August 7, 2026. The youngest among those sentenced was five years old, while four were 25 years old, with the oldest being 30 years old. According to explanations from five adult men who completed the procedure, their age was due to living and working far from their home area. They reportedly worked as laborers and herded cattle in distant locations, preventing them from receiving timely information about previous circumcision periods.
