An armed attack escalated into violent confrontation in Ampombolava village, rural commune of Mahajamba, Mahajanga II district, on the evening of August 7. Three individuals, allegedly members of the assault group, were killed by a mob following the attack. A fourth suspect managed to escape. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. According to reports, a merchant couple from Amboromalandy, who came to purchase livestock, was targeted by criminals. During the attack, the woman was wounded in the neck with a blade. The assailants then fled with 20 million ariary, which the couple was carrying for cattle purchases. Alerted, law enforcement and local community members arrived at the scene. Three individuals suspected of participating in the attack were apprehended by the mob. According to available information, they died from violence inflicted upon them before their bodies were set on fire. A fourth suspect managed to escape and remains actively sought by authorities. The victim evacuated to Mahajanga Seriously wounded in the neck, the merchant woman was evacuated to Mahajanga for medical treatment.
