Organizers of Zara Lalao and partners held the official launch of the event yesterday. On August 15 and 16, an event called Zara Lalao will take place at Jardin d'Antaninarenina. It is a gathering where traditional Malagasy games will come back to life before the eyes of children and families. The Sombiny Haiko association, founded in October 2025, is driving this initiative with the conviction that culture can become a lever for solidarity. Since its creation, Sombiny Haiko, composed of Malagasy singers, has already supported 120 children, distributed rice in Isotry, assisted students affected by the cyclone in Tamatave, and mobilized the diaspora through fundraising in Paris. Each gesture reflects the same commitment: offering the most vulnerable a more dignified future while preserving the country's cultural roots. Zara Lalao will be an immersion in traditional games, from Vitsilihy to Raosy Jamba, passing through Sabaka or hopscotch at Jomaka. Children will be able to make "papango" or small cars from "kapoaka," made from tin cans, while craft stands will showcase local expertise. On stage, singers from the association and invited artists such as Melky, Ken, and Mamina, among others, will electrify the audience in a festive and family atmosphere. Entry is free, but everyone can make a donation in the urns provided for this purpose. These contributions will help expand the association's actions, particularly toward Akany Onjasoa in Tamatave, where nearly 1,500 students await support. A wonderful way to combine business with pleasure.
