Mandraka is among the critical points where traffic is seriously slowed or even halted. Traffic jams stretching several kilometers force road users to wait for hours, sometimes up to half a day, before continuing their journey. Users attribute the congestion to the large number of heavy trucks parked on the roadside, following instructions from gendarmes managing traffic and road safety on this route. As a result, traffic flows on a single lane, often creating bottleneck situations, worsened by the recklessness of some users who enter the single lane without waiting for instructions, blocking traffic in both directions on RN 2. According to testimonies from users who traveled the RN 2 route mid-week, massive traffic jams caused by a broken-down truck blocking the road led to traffic being halted for over 10 hours. Yesterday as well, the temporary closure of traffic between kilometer 61 and kilometer 63+500 between Andasibekely and Mandraka due to periodic maintenance work resulted in traffic jams in both directions. Users are calling for better traffic regulation on RN 2 to avoid blocking situations that extend travel times between Antananarivo and Toamasina by several hours. These delays have serious consequences for all users, both transport companies and private travelers.
