Six women have been imprisoned in Miarinarivo on Thursday after being arrested for organized pickpocketing. On Tuesday, August 4, at Analavory market, plainclothes police officers from the local station were conducting foot patrols to prevent crime. Two women were caught red-handed in the crowd. When questioned, they admitted to the offenses and identified their accomplices, leading to the arrest of four additional people.
Investigators revealed that the group had a habit of consulting a fortune teller before committing thefts, seeking occult practices believed to protect them. This preparation confirms a structured organization, where the thefts were not random acts but the result of a coordinated strategy. Presented to the Miarinarivo prosecutor's office, the six women were placed in preventive detention. They will have to answer for their actions before the courts.
