For the majority, the only option was to walk. Pedestrians thus filled sidewalks and streets along all major city routes. A forced march to allow people to reach school, high school, university, or work, albeit with considerable delays. Another option was the motorcycle taxi, for commuters who could afford it. The taxi-be strike proved a windfall for motorcycle taxis, which were in high demand from early morning until nightfall. Due to the strike, schools and universities recorded numerous delays and absences yesterday. These delays and absences were unjustified but tolerated by school administrators. The same occurred in businesses, where delays were particularly numerous yesterday morning. Some companies implemented internal arrangements for their employees, setting up exceptional shuttle services for essential personnel.
