An armed robbery occurred in a town called Ambalakininina in Mahanoro. Four armed men attempted the robbery, and one of them was shot dead by the homeowner when they tried to enter. The attack on the merchant in Mahanoro happened around 1:30 AM. The armed men arrived on a motorcycle, described as a "zah mbo ngaogna" or Honda motorcycle. Although the robbery tools and equipment were ready for the break-in, when the merchant heard someone trying to enter, he immediately fired. One attacker was killed while the other three escaped on the Honda motorcycle they had brought. When the armed men arrived, they wore masks to hide their identities, but they were still recognized by those inside the house, who refused to negotiate. Police have since taken custody of the deceased armed robber, and officers are investigating the incident, though they have not yet caught up with the suspects. The situation in Mahanoro remains tense with these armed robbers still at large, as local police are not actively pursuing them, following orders from their superiors.
