The National Assembly participated, on August 5 and 6, via videoconference, in a regional workshop on the legal framework governing elections, organized in Moroni, Comoros. This meeting, initiated by the Indian Ocean Electoral Network (REOI) and the General Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), is part of the "Governance, Peace and Stability" (GPS) project, with support from the French Development Agency (AFD). The Malagasy delegation comprised deputies Narson Rafidimanana, Harson Raholijaona, Nadine Andrianasolo and Ain' Harimanga Gabrielle Raby Savatsarah, members of the Association of Parliaments of the Indian Ocean Commission (AP-IOC). During the proceedings, Ain' Harimanga Gabrielle Raby Savatsarah intervened as a panelist. Discussions focused on the risks and challenges related to the reform of the legal framework for elections, as well as the sharing of experiences and best practices among Parliaments, electoral commissions and regional partners. This workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of institutional actors in electoral reform and to promote the application of international standards relating to electoral processes within member states.
