Antsirabe Urban Municipality: Fidinirina Andriatomponera Appointed PDS
The handover ceremony between the new PDS and the interim mayor took place yesterday in Antsirabe. The Urban Municipality of Antsirabe now has a new President of the Special Delegation (PDS). By decree no. 25-147/2026, published on August 6, Fidinirina Andriatomponera was appointed to lead the city. He will be assisted by Firmin Andriamaro and Christian Razafindrafito, designated as vice-presidents of the Special Delegation. General Strike This appointment ends several weeks of crisis within the municipality. As a reminder, Mayor Honoré Gabriel Rasamimanana, known as Dr Unoh, submitted his resignation on May 11, while municipal employees were on strike demanding payment of thirteen months of salary arrears and also denouncing several difficulties related to market management. According to strike representatives, the general strike ended following the appointment of the new PDS, with an agreement reached on wage demands. Municipal services have resumed their activities. Service Handover. The handover ceremony between the new PDS and interim mayor Rakotondrabe Andrianomanana took place yesterday, in the presence of the Antsirabe prefect. Upon his installation, Fidinirina Andriatomponera officially took office. Former director of General Administration for the Vakinankaratra region and current president of the Vakinankaratra football league, the new PDS intends to give the city new momentum. With his team, he aims notably to make Antsirabe a clean, developed and peaceful city.
